These menaces don’t hang around when it comes to breeding, spreading diseases and gnawing through your belongings, so you can’t be hanging around either when it comes to dealing with them.

Harvey Environmental Bradford are one of the biggest names in the pest control industry in the North of England so it is no surprise that many of the jobs we work on every day involve rats and other rodents.

We have decided that now is the perfect time to share some of our secrets to success and give you some of our top tips for getting rid of rats and keeping them out for good.

5 step guide to getting rid of rats

Step 1 – Make sure you are dealing with rats

Every pest is different, and every pest needs a different approach to get rid of them.

Before you get started, you need to make sure it is actually rats you are dealing with. Given that rats are nocturnal and favour dark and dingy spaces such as attics, wall cavities, and basements, it is not always easy to catch sight of one in the flesh.

If you haven’t look out for any of the following common signs of rats:
  • Black or brown cylindrical dropping pellets
  • Dust or grime marks along the skirting board
  • Gnaw marks or gnaw holes
  • Scuffling or scrabbling sounds coming from the walls.
  • Piles of shredded paper or insulation (Potential rat nest alert)

Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure what pest species you are facing is to call in a pro, unless you have physically seen one.

Step 2 – Remove anything that could attract a rat

Rats are a lot like us. They like food, shelter, warmth, and peace and quite. Remove as many of these as possible from your home by maintaining a high level of hygiene in the property.

Make sure all plates are washed and cleared after use, take out the garbage and store it properly, and keep your garden clutter free.

Step 3 – Fill in the gaps

Rats and mice squeeze through all sorts of small gaps. Fill as many as possible with filler or steel wool to prevent them gaining access.

Step 4 – Call the pros

If you already have a rat problem, calling in the professionals is the only way to know for sure they are gone.

Step 5- Make changes

Once you are rid of your rat issues, its time to make sure they don’t happen twice.

Follow the tips above to do just that!

Are mobile tyre fitters more expensive than garages? Are mobile tyre fitters more expensive than garages?

Mobile tyre fitting involves a highly trained tyre fitter travelling to your home, work, or directly to where you are standard at the roadside to repair or replace your tyres and get you back out on the road.

With none of the inconvenience that comes with taking your car into the garage, you would probably be surprised at how affordable mobile tyre fitting can be.

At mobiletyres.co.uk we are one of Scotland’s leading mobile tyre fitters so you could say that we are a little biased towards this route but the fact is that evidence shows time after time that mobile tyre fitting is more convenient, less stressful, and often cheaper than physically journeying to your local garage.

Broken tyre

That said, all of our team have worked in garages in their time and are well aware that there are still many benefits to visiting a garage in person and that in some instances it is certainly the cheaper option.

In this article we will look at the differences in cost between a mobile tyre fitting service and a garage visit.

This will give you all the information that you need to make a more informed decision the next time you have an issue with your tyres or need to have them changed.

Are garages cheaper than mobile tyre fitting?

On average, mobile tyre fitting is not much that more expensive than a visit to your local garage, and sometimes can even work out cheaper!

What you need to remember is that it is not only the cost of repairing or replacing your tyres in itself that needs to be taken into consideration but also the travel to the garage and the cost of the inconvenience to your day.

On the other hand, there will almost certainly be some sort of call-out charge when you use a mobile tyre fitting company and a premium charged for out of hour call outs. That said, garages aren’t open in the middle of the night anyway so if you do break down with a punctured tyre mobile tyre fitting is not only your cheapest option but is also your only option.

Why else would you choose mobile tyre fitting?

Apart from being available around the clock, there are many other benefits to choosing a mobile tyre fitting service.

Have you ever been to the garage only to be told that they didn’t actually have the part that you needed and ended up having to go back again or leave your car their overnight? If you take your car in for a puncture repair and it turns out the tyre needs to be replaced, this is exactly what can happen.

Mobile tyre fitters on the other hand, usually carry everything in their fitting vans to deal with all eventualities including tyre installation, tyre repair, and tyre replacement.

They will also be able to give you valuable safety advice about whether the car is roadworthy once again and how to protect your tyres.

Benefits of CCTV towers for event securityBenefits of CCTV towers for event security

Mobile CCTV systems such as CCTV towers are the ideal choice for temporary surveillance at a location where fixed CCTV is not an option, or not required.

Construction sites are a great example of this. They need protection, to help stop theft and vandalism, but the project is constantly changing, surveillance is only required for a short period of time, and there may not be any mains access for CCTV installation anyway.

Another great use for temporary CCTV towers than can be installed, moved, and removed in a matter of minutes by an expert security firm is at events. Using CCTV for event security can be incredibly beneficial, allowing you to observe huge areas packed with thousands of people from a single location. Cameras deter criminals from trying anything at your event, reassure attendees that they are safe, and provide clear conclusive evidence of what happened if an incident does take place. They also make it so much easier for your security guards to secure your venue properly, as they can locate incidents and attend to them far quicker than would otherwise be possible.

However, you might only be using the venue for a day or a few days at most, and if the venue does not have its own CCTV system, or you are hosting your event outside, you need temporary CCTV to be brought in for the event alone. This is where CCTV towers come in. Standing at 7m tall and providing 360 degree imagery of a large area around them, these towers are perfect for festivals, concerts, and more and are great for observing crowds from above.

We are one of the leading UK providers of AI and Eco-Friendly CCTV towers and often provide security for major events up and down the country. We have compiled a list of some of the biggest benefits of having a CCTV tower at your large scale event.

Crime prevention

Theft is unfortunately not unusual at large scale events and having CCTV in place can help to deter criminals from targeting your attendees. A CCTV tower, literally towering above the crowd, is a highly effective deterrent against thieves sending them a message they can’t miss that they are under observation. This will also help your guests to relax and enjoy the event itself without having to look over their shoulder. If a crime does occur despite the measures you have put in place, under the influence of alcohol or otherwise, CCTV towers will ensure that the incident is caught on camera and appropriate action can be taken against the offender.

If there is any violence or confrontation that occurs, CCTV will allow your security officers to quickly identify the location of the problems and the culprits and have them removed from the venue. All in all, CCTV creates a much safer and more enjoyable atmosphere at major events.

Traffic Control

Major events draw all sorts of people from all sorts of places to a single area. They all need to get there somehow, and many will park their vehicles nearby whilst they attend. CCTV towers are well known for their effectiveness in protecting car parks, both from thieves, and in order to control traffic and prevent congestion build up.

Should a problem arise in your car park, you will see it on CCTV and can take the appropriate action. Footage from CCTV cameras at previous events in the same venue can also be incredibly useful when planning your own event as you can learn from any mistakes that were made and take action to prevent them happening again.

Convenience

CCTV towers can be deployed at a moment’s notice and a professional security firm will have them up and running anywhere you need them in no time. Events are temporary in nature and it makes sense for your CCTV to be the same. Some shows and concerts move between different locations and venues on a day-to-day basis and if this is the case for you, CCTV towers will help to ensue you have appropriate standardised protection at each and every venue as you travel.

Not only can your CCTV move, but you can access live imagery from CCTV towers whilst you are on the move yourself. During the event you might be needed anywhere on the premises at any time and the 5G transmission technology incorporated into modern CCTV towers allows you to access live footage on the go using your mobile phone or other mobile device.

After the event has passed, this footage will be a valuable learning tool that you can use to plan for future events, letting you observe any mistakes that were made or changes that could be beneficial and implementing them for next time.
